What We offer
Evidence-Based Wellness Resources: We offer science-based, practical resources to help wildland firefighters stay in peak physical condition, recover quickly, and manage stress effectively. Our guidance covers everything from strength training and injury prevention to mental health support and recovery strategies, all tailored to meet the unique challenges of this demanding role.
Community Connections: At Hotshot Wellness, we’re here to help you connect with a community that truly understands the unique challenges of wildland firefighting. Our platform brings together current and former Hotshots, health and fitness professionals, researchers, and fire leaders—all dedicated to sharing experiences, offering insights, and providing support. Together, we create an inclusive space where you can find understanding, guidance, and camaraderie on your wellness journey.
Scholarships: We are creating a program to provide personal development scholarships for current and former Interagency Hotshot Crew members. These scholarships will help them explore wellness education and growth opportunities in areas like yoga, breathwork, and other holistic practices. The goal is to encourage self-discovery, adaptability, and personal growth. By stepping out of their comfort zones, participants will develop skills such as problem-solving, communication, and resilience—tools that benefit both their personal well-being and professional performance. This program aims to support continuous self-improvement while recognizing the important work Hotshots do for our communities.
Specialized Wellness Programs: We are designing comprehensive wellness programs specifically crafted for wildland fire crews, organizations, and individuals. These programs will integrate physical training plans, mental health resources, and spiritual practices to support firefighters in building resilience. Whether they’re preparing for fire season or recovering from the intense demands of the job, these tools are tailored to help them stay strong—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Engaging Events and Summits: Hotshot Wellness organizes events that build community, share insights, and promote wellness. Our main event, the Wildland Fire Wellness Summit, brings together experts, leaders, practitioners, and firefighters to explore new approaches to health and resilience in the wildland fire profession. These events are a chance to learn, connect, and feel inspired.

An Open Letter: Our series, An Open Letter serves as a creative outlet for storytelling, reflection, and meaningful community engagement. These heartfelt letters, written by firefighters, their families, and passionate advocates, dive into personal experiences, shedding light on the challenges, sacrifices, and triumphs faced within the wildland fire community. From the long hours on the fireline to the emotional toll on loved ones, these stories reveal the human side of firefighting that often goes unseen. By giving voice to these raw and genuine experiences, we aim to foster deeper understanding, build solidarity, and create a stronger sense of connection among all who are touched by the fireline. Each letter is a reminder of the resilience and dedication of this community and the importance of supporting those who protect our lands and lives.
